Ruffles Demo by
Diana Sullivan Ruffle #1: 2 x 2 ribbing
Cast on over 60 stitches
in 2 by 2 ribbing. I did this as
follows: Set up needles for full
needle rib. Zig-Zag row, T0 Set to circular, 3 R
Tension 2 Transfer every third
stitch on top to ribber and every third stitch on ribber to main bed to
create a 2 x 2 ribbing, the half-pitch kind Knit 18 rows Transfer all stitches to
main bed, doubling up as needed Using garter bar, remove
stitches and put back with 2 stitches on every needle Knit 30 rows over 30
stitches and bind off Ruffle #2 – Lacy with Picot Edge
Using waste yarn, and
every other needle in work, cast on over 30-0-30 Knit a few rows waste
yarn, then ravel cord Tension 3 knit 4 rows
garment yarn Bring out of work
needles into work Tension 5 knit 6 rows Pick up hem onto every
other needle Knit 2 rows Using all over lace
pattern, work 12 rows of knitting (I used Stitch World
103) End lace with 2 rows
knit Using garter bar, remove
stitches and put back with 2 stitches on every needle Knit 30 rows over 30
stitches and bind off Ruffle #3 – Tuck Stitch
Using waste yarn, cast
on over 30-0-30 stitches (60 stitches) K 1 row ravel cord Knit 6 rows garment yarn Pick up hem Set tuck pattern up –
very simple, 2 stitches plain, one tucked as follows: XXOXXO XXOXXO K 1 row with needle
selection on Set carriage to tuck to
the right only Knit 13 rows Using garter bar, remove
stitches and put back with 2 stitches on every needle Knit 30 rows over 30
stitches and bind off Ruffle #5 Pin Tuck Edge
Using waste yarn, cast
on over 60 stitches, T4 K 1 row ravel cord Knit 4 rows garment yarn Pick up hem *Knit 1 row to close Bring every other needle
to D position Set weaving brushes to
work Use contrast color yarn
to weave K 1 row with weaving
yarn K 3 rows plain Use weaving yarn as a
guide to pick up another hem (pick up where the weaving yarn goes under the
regular yarn) Repeat from * once Knit 8 rows Remove stitches on garter
bar and gather onto 30 needles (2 stitches each needle) Knit 30 rows and bind
